Rastgar, Chairman, Rastgar Group of Industries, Pakistan on September 10, 2024 in Inam-ur-Rehman Auditorium. The title of the talk was “Entrepreneurship: A Career Option”. The talk was followed by a short session of questions & answers and exchange of views with the audience. The participants were led by Faculty Members of WAPDA Engineering Academy, Engr. Mahboob Farid and Engr. Rashid Mahmood. They were received by Director ORIC, Dr. Muhammad Tufail and ORIC placement coordinator, Mr. Tanveer Abbas. The group comprised of dedicated educators from WAPDA's various educational institutions, all keen to explore the state-of-the-art facilities and innovative academic programs offered by PIEAS. During their visit, a presentation was given on PIEAS's contributions to the field of engineering and applied sciences, showcasing successful research projects and collaborations with national and international institutions. The presentation was followed by a discussion session where the participants exchanged ideas with PIEAS faculty on fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation in their respective educational environments. Dr. Waqas Ahmed, Head PRD also briefed the teachers about STEM Career program. and its benefit to students. The participants were also given a detailed tour of the PIEAS campus, including its cutting-edge laboratories, research centers, and lecture halls. Visit of OGDCL Officials for Collaboration with PIEASVisit of OGDCL Officials for Collaboration with PIEAS A team of OGDCL officials visited PIEAS on July 11, 2024, to explore avenues for mutual collaboration. The team of ODGCL comprised of Mr. Yahya Tajveed (Manager MMD), Mr. Shakeel Ahmad (Chief Engineer Mechanical), Mr. Talat Haider (Chief Incharge Oil & Gas Training Institute), Mr. Ahmed Zia (Chief Engineer Electrical) and Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Lashari (Chief Engineer Process). PIEAS team was headed by Director ORIC and included Head of Departments from Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgy & Materials Engineering, and Computer & Information Sciences. This meeting was in continuation of earlier meeting held between Dr. Khalid Waheed (Manager ORIC) and Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Lashari (Chief Engineer Process). The delegation was given an introduction to PIEAS and its research activities. Various areas including development of new materials for sensing, joint research on technologies to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and develop renewable energy sources were deliberated. Afterwards, OGDCL team visited various laboratory facilities of PIEAS. ORIC and BIC Steering Committees MeetingsThe first ever steering committee of ORIC/BIC after its constitution on 28-03-2024. was held on 26-06-2024. The steering committee discussed and approved various matters pertaining to ORIC/BIC policies, five year plans and promotion of entrepreneurship culture in the university. Hult Prize Bangkok 2024 SummitEkolites” - A start up idea from PIEAS by Mohammad Ovais (DME) and Ayesha Nadeem (DCHE) under the supervision of Dr. Zahid Iqbal (DME) is selected in the Hult Prize Bangkok 2024 Summit at Chulalongkorn University as one of the few selected teams from over 10,000+ teams internationally. Hult Prize is a platform which challenges young people to solve the world’s most pressing issues through social entrepreneurship by funding $1M USD to make their idea a reality. Ekolites aims to fights with ongoing energy crisis Pakistan by retrofitting ordinary cycles and vehicles and converting them to electric cycles and Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) by integrating Power Electronics , making transportation more affordable for the middle-class people so they can travel for longer distances and achieve their dreams. Ekolites is simultaneously trying to reduce pollution and decrease fuel imports of Pakistan. Ovais and Ayesha deserve appreciation and are a role models for all young entrepreneurs at PIEAS who are struggling for their ideas. AGHOSH

Perfect Pitch Workshop Held on 13th May 2024Zindagi Prize On Campus ChallengeZindigi Prize on campus challenge aimed at nurturing innovation and entrepreneurial talent, concluded successfully on April 27, 2024. The PIEAS InnovateX student body under the mentorship of BIC, PIEAS and ORIC, PIEAS coordinated the activities of the event. Hosted with the objective of providing a platform for budding entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and compete for recognition, the event witnessed the participation of nine dynamic teams. After rigorous evaluation by a panel of expert judges, Whisper Frames by Arqam Saleem and Musab Javed emerged as the winners of the Zindigi Event 2024. The teamwill now advance to the regional competition scheduled to be heldin Islamabad. PIEAS FACULTY SECURE PRESTIGIOUS RESEARCH GRANT IN COLLABORATION WITH PEKING UNIVERSITY, CHINADr. Aftab Rafiq from PIEAS and Dr. X. Xiulai from Peking University have been awarded a prestigious research grant to further their work on "Tailoring Exciton Dynamics in Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Heterostructures and Its Application in Quantum Technology." The project has secured 10 million PKR from the Pakistan Science Foundation and 2 million yuan from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The collaborative team includes Dr. Nadeem Shauket, Mr. Matloob Hussain Bhatti, Mr. Arshad Majeed, Miss Tahira Hussain (PhD student), and Dr. Shafqat Hussain Shah from PINSTECH. On April 23, 2024, a delegation from Qadri Group of Industries, including Mr. Haroon Ali and Mr. Farhan Khalid, visited PIEAS to recruit talented students from the Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering Department. Lahore visited PIEAS on April 17, 2024, for Initial screening test of undergraduate students from Electrical, and Computer Science departments. The team included Hina Ashraf, Ramoza Ahsan, and Muhammad Khalid. Officers from PIEAS placement office and ORIC, Mr. Tanveer Abbas, Dr. Kamran Safdar, and Dr. Khalid Waheed facilitated the activity. The recruitment team recently communicated that PIEAS has the best ratio to the number of graduates taking and passing the test, among the universities in the premises of Islamabad. The team also observed that PIEAS students exhibited a deeper understanding of engineering fundamentals, core engineering concepts, abstract thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. The team included PIEAS Alumni, Irtaza Sohail and Muhammad Dawood Bashir, who are currently working for FFC. The students took keen interest in the range of career opportunities available in FFC and interacted with the FFC team. Presentation of ORIC Policies in 25th Academic CommitteeThe 25th Academic committee meeting of PIEAS was held on 22nd February 2023. Various academic and policy matters were presented before the committee involving course revisions, admission, research and ORIC policy. The AC meeting was chaired by Pro-Rector PIEAS Dr. Shahid Qamar and attended by Registrar, Controller examination, Deans, Directors and representatives of respective departments. The representatives from Constituent colleges of PIEAS also participated in the meeting. HEC aims at motivating and facilitating the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to make research a top priority for a sustainable economic growth and future knowledge economy. For this purpose, a center is being established in universities to serve as a pivotal point, encompassing all the research activities - from development of research proposal to the commercialization of research products - under a single umbrella.
The HEC organized a Training of the Trainers (ToT) program for ORICs in Peshawar. The focus was hands-on skill intensive training in ORIC revenue generation, IP in research, marketing of research and technology

Seminar on Entrepreneurship and CommercializingPIEAS ORIC organized a Seminar on Entrepreneurship and Commercializing on October 26, 2023. Seminar on “How to Raise Funding for your Research Project”In a rapidly evolving research landscape, securing adequate funding is essential for scientists, academics, and researchers. To this end, PIEAS ORIC organized a talk on “How to raise funding for your research project” on June 19, 2023. Dr. Salman Raza Naqvi Director, Director National Science and Technology Park, NUST was the speaker for the event. The purpose of the talk was to motivate graduating PhD students and entry level researchers to continue pursuing their groundbreaking work.
